“Promoting the sustainable development of the natural heritage of the Neretva Valley” is a multimillion project of investing in the protected natural values ​​of the Neretva Valley, which through the sustainable use of natural heritage aims to contribute to the social and economic development of this area. The project holder is the Dubrovnik – Neretva County with partners. The project includes 9 infrastructural interventions and the holding of 21 educational workshops on the topic of nature conservation.

The project includes the reconstruction of the school in Baćina, which will include the Neretva Gate visitor center and mountain lodge, arrangement of the exhibition space of the Natural History Museum in Metković, construction of an edu-eco complex with the world’s first wind organ on Trovro hill in Rogotin, arrangement of a living observatory world and 10 km of hiking trails in Baćina Lakes, revitalization of 5 km of trails and promenades in the area of ​​Predolac-Šibenik, arrangement of an edu-eco garden within the Elementary School of Fr. Ante Gnječ in Staševica, arrangement of an eco-children’s playground in Otrić – Seoci and installation of protection systems fires in the area of ​​Predolac-Šibenik and the hill Babina Gomila.

Wind organs or just organs, as the locals of this Neretva place call them, are unique in the world. There is no knowledge that something like this exists anywhere, and the project of building wind turbines on the hill Trovro in Rogotin near Ploče is a unique world music tourist attraction. The sound will be created by the air entering the flute through the tubes, and the bora, maestral and jugo will then rightly be able to call the three tenors above Rogotin.

In the observed, almost two-year period, a total of 220 articles were published, of which the leading place in terms of the number of publications is occupied by Internet portals (146), followed to a lesser extent by publications in press (41), radio (25) and television (8).

Top media

The portals rogotin.hr (23), HRTV (22) and radio.hrt.hr (18) were the most loyal followers of the project development. A smaller presence was also recorded on the portals radio.hrt.hr, Glas Grada, and several portals focused on the Dubrovnik area.

The project “Promoting the sustainable heritage of the Neretva Valley” has been implemented since July 2018 to develop public awareness of the importance of biodiversity and geodiversity conservation through promotion, education, and interpretation of protected parts of nature and the Natura 2000 ecological network. Eligible costs are HRK 14,048,072.02, of which HRK 10,536,054.01 is EU aid. The project is implemented under the Operational Program Competitiveness and Cohesion (OPCK) and is funded by the European Structural Investment Funds.
